One of my questions, going into this whole dog treat blogging thing, was, “What makes Jones Natural Chews special? Different? Why would anyone choose their product over the gazillion others on the market?” Evidently this is a question JNC fields frequently. Let me tell you a story. A story about a woman and her dog.
My friend, Liz, has a gorgeous red Australian shepherd named Bella. Hi Bella!
A few months ago there was a big scare concerning dog treats and where they were manufactured, right? I mean, who thinks to look at the label on dog treats? Liz didn’t, until news came out that dogs were getting sick and dying in the hundreds. Their Bella is part of the family, and you just don’t give tainted food to family. Unless, you know, it’s your mother-in-law.
I kid. I kid. Really.
And LOOK at how much Bella loves a good treat!
So Liz stopped buying treats for Bella altogether.
I mean, sure, her three kids would still drop food on the floor and Bella would be there to clean it up. But that’s not the same as a nummy dog treat, right?
So I asked Suzy, at Jones Natural Chews, what sets them apart from the dog chew big guys. Number one on their list (and there’s more than one answer) is that every single ingredient in the chews they produce is made in the USA. Nearly all of it from local sources. And look how happy they make Bella:
Here’s what Suzy had to say – in fact, there are even more questions in our frequently asked questions:
All Jones Natural Chews products are grown and made in the USA. The entire manufacturing procedure from start to finish is on American soil. It is a great honor to have the American Flag on all of our products.
Regarding specific ingredients:
The casings we use are the same type of casing used in human consumption sausages, a natural collagen casing. They are safe for all dogs.
Glycerin is a by-product from vegetable oils and corn. The viscosity of glycerin gives it an antibacterial property. There are natural and synthetic types of glycerin, but Jones only uses the natural glycerin.
All Jones products are purchased from USDA inspected meat plants within the US. The plants are not certified organic or free-range; however several of our sources are from ranch areas and not feed lots.
So really, why on earth wouldn’t you want Jones Natural Chews treats for your dog? I know that Liz will be looking for them in the near future (when Bella has exhausted the supply I brought her), probably starting at her local Atwoods. If you have questions, though, just leave me a comment. I may not know the answer, but I know several someones who do and I’ll get back to you promptly.
Until I write again …
