LAST DAY TO ENTER THE GIVEAWAY!
What’s your title? I’m trying to take seriously the title Smile Facilitator. I was in a group setting last night and someone introduced me as a writer. A little back story – in this same organization, I started and ran a writing group for a couple of years. It was fun, but I burned out and decided I wasn’t a writer after all.
Not thinking, I said, “No, I just blog for money.” I forgot all about my new, cool title. Smile Facilitator.
And here’s the question of the day – What’s your title? Not just What’s your title? But, what title would you give yourself? Because I totally gave myself the title Smile Facilitator. And does your title suit you?
We don’t get to name ourselves when we’re born. We don’t even give ourselves our own nicknames. And our titles? Typically we have a say in that, choosing a career or position. I’m a Wife and a Mother, both by choice. I’m a Blogger because I want to be. But I didn’t go into any of these positions thinking about my future identity. Did you? How conscious were you in taking on any of your roles and titles? I know that some of you were highly aware of the role and the changes that it would make in your life long-term.
Now, what roles and titles have you given yourself, have you chosen? I’ve always had dogs. Always. We chose our first dog as a married couple less than a year after our wedding. Dog Mom is a title and role I chose more or less knowing what I’d be getting into.
Dog Blogger was a surprise, asked of me by an old friend. I love this role and title more than most. But did I know, going in, that it would brand me to others? That it would change me, change the way I think and talk and act? I had an inkling, but no, not really. Just like I had no clue how Mother and Wife would change me forever.
Ah, but here’s where we come to it – the titles we choose. What titles have you chosen? What identities have you intentionally taken on and grown into? How have you changed your life, thoughts, words and actions on purpose? And do you like it?
I’ve chosen Smile Facilitator recently, but looking backwards, I’ve been choosing my title my entire life. Now I can step into it and own it out loud. In some ways the titles and names I drifted into unintentionally have changed me in ways I didn’t like, or just stifled me for awhile. But Smile Facilitator is simply a title for the best part of me, the part that’s been developing since childhood, the part that needs to be alive and running rampant.
How about you? Your title? What is it? What have you chosen for yourself? What title describes you best? How will you shape your future around it, changing your world?
I didn’t mean to head in this direction today. I mean, I blog about dog treats, for crying out loud. How does that change the world? I’ll tell you how. Jones Natural Chews are amazing, yes, but they’re still just treats, right? But they make dogs happy, and they’re great quality. Great price. They make dogs smile. So? So dogs make their people smile. Dogs make people happy. And if I can make dogs smile, dogs make their people smile, and I’ve done my job.
See, I don’t have to find the cure for cancer. Or create flying cars. As far as I’m concerned, healthy all natural treats are one step toward healthy, happy dogs, and that’s enough. Smile Facilitator it is.
What’s your title?
Until I write again …
