What do you do with animals when you travel? I’m asking for a friend. Okay, I’m asking for me. There’s this big party this weekend, that I really didn’t want to miss, but I can’t leave all the animals. I know it doesn’t sound right, but allow me to explain.
Yes, I Do Leave My Animals Periodically
I know you’ve seen me leave for road trips, like the week long trip to Nashville in May, for BlogPaws, or the week I spent traveling to Rockford, IL, or the week in Dallas, or the two weeks, little dogs in tow, to Atlanta and BarkWorld. Why don’t those count? That’s plenty of travel time away from the cats, chickens, duck, big dogs and fish. Someone was home taking care of all of them.
I’d like to take that someone with me to the big Christmas party which Jones Natural Chews throws every year. It’s loads of fun, I get to visit bloggers along the way, as well as see some of my most favorite people at Jones. Hunny gets to stop at the Springfield Leather shop and drool on everything (it’s an AMAZING leather shop). In fact, Hunny and I went to the party two years ago. We left the teenagers in charge of all of the animals for the extended weekend. It all went pretty well.
So What Has Changed?
I’ll tell you what’s changed. My teenagers are no longer teenagers. One has moved out and is busier than a one armed paper hanger. Another is in school full time and working. The youngest works nights and has a life. Even if I paid them handsomely to take care of the animals, they just wouldn’t have the time or gumption to do so. So where does that leave me?
At home. Missing the party.
What Do You Do With Animals When You Travel?
Tell me. Please. I have too many animals to leave them with someone. Especially with the fowl. It’s a great time of year to hire a college student to stay in the house and care for them, from the vantage point of needing money to buy gifts for their family. But it’s also finals week. Who on earth would I have come and stay, then? I truly am perpelexed and hoping that the great and powerful internet will have an answer for me. Please. Pretty please.
Because this year? I’m missing a great party this weekend. And I’d rather not miss it next year, thankyouverymuch. So please, help me out?
