The Weather, It’s Coming Soon!

December 5, 2013

HAVE YOU ENTERED THE JONES NATURAL CHEWS GIVEAWAY?! DO IT NOW!!! Deadline is tonight!

I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the middle of the USA. I love it here. One of the reasons we moved here was to experience snow occasionally. And because we just love weather. Well, the weather, it’s coming soon! TODAY, in fact!

Ice on the radar for Tulsa
This is a radar image of Tulsa and the surrounding area. Really. That pink stuff is ice. That comes first. It seems that that always comes first.

Y’all, my dogs love snow. We’ve been in Tulsa for seven years this week and haven’t had snow in the last two years. Very disappointing. The puppies don’t know it yet, but we’re going to be dumped on. They’ll get to romp in white stuff!

Do your dogs love snow? I read a few of your blogs. I hear mixed things about snow. Most of your dogs seem to love it, but not all of you love what the snow brings, particularly the ice balls in the paw pads.

That video was taken a couple of years ago, the last time we had snow. I’m so excited!! I’m especially looking forward, though, to seeing how the chickens and Jimmy handle snow. Jimmy? Y’all know Jimmy.

Duck does the hokey pokey
You do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around … that’s what it’s all about

My Hunny is concerned that the coop won’t be warm enough for the girls. It’s dropping down to three degrees one night this weekend. I think about the warmth of my feather comforter and think that the coop will be just fine. Seriously, though, the girls will be fine. Chickens handle cold much better than they handle heat. But I’ll keep y’all apprised as this goes on. Keeping the water liquid for them is going to be one of the biggest challenges, I think. Getting my butt out of this warm house to check on them will be the biggest challenge.

Do you know what else is coming soon? Christmas! You knew that. Have you gotten your dog presents yet? Stocking stuffers? I love Jones Holiday Packs for presents. And if you’re just looking for something small and inexpensive for the stocking, there’s always the Wooferman four pack, or the Candy Cane Pizzle two pack. I think the Candy Cane Pizzles will surprise you with their longevity for smaller dogs. They’re not quickly devoured.

Candy Cane Pizzles - the perfect gift for a small dog
The Candy Cane Pizzles are a long lasting chew for a small dog. All natural and all USA grown and made, these chews are the ideal gift for your small dog.

What else is coming soon? A road trip! That’s right, I’m setting out again soon, and will have photos and stories. I’ll be meeting at least one of my favorite dog bloggers in person (*squeeee*), attending a big Christmas party at Jones, visiting St. Louis and Chicago, all with MY HUNNY!

Chickens love tuna
Hunny and Ginger, in warmer times

YES! This will be my very first road trip with just my Hunny in twenty years! I’m pretty excited. Y’all, I hope we make it through alive. I love my Hunny. He loves me. But we’re each used to traveling alone. I’m used to traveling with the kids. They sing Weird Al tunes right along with me. Days on the road without Al might be too much for me. Days in the car with heavy metal might kill me. Hmm. I need to work on finding common listening ground before we leave.

But who’ll be watching the critters here at Casa de Pulga, you ask? My mommy and her Honey.

Shih Tzu
I love that my mom and her dog match

Yes, I have three near-adult children. All three of them work and are in school, so they can’t really be left with the care of two dogs, five chickens and a duck. My mom will be staying at the house, along with her baby diva dog. Yes, Flash and Patches will be sharing their space with Honey.

Shih Tzu Honey
This boy doesn’t look happy about sharing HIS space with Honey. He’ll get over it.

This has been a pretty scatter-shot This’n’That Thursday, a blog hop brought to you by 2 Brown Dawgs and Ruckus the Eskie. And the number 7. My brain isn’t functioning well at the moment. The thought of snow has me slightly freaked out. Expect plenty of photos.

And if you haven’t entered the treat giveaway, well WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!

Until I write again …
