Don’t believe that treats aren’t just for dogs? Pay attention.
Our chickens, Mary Ann and Ginger, are greedy pigs. They love anything you bring outside. If they see you carrying something, the girls will fly onto your shoulder. Or lap. If they hear a crinkling noise, they’ll jump in your lap. One of the few exceptions to the treat rule is the Jones Natural Chews Dino bones.
I just don’t understand. It’s large. It’s meaty tasting (I assume – I haven’t licked a JNC Dino bone). It’s the perfect treat for a voracious omnivore. Right? But Mary Ann made up her mind and there’s no changing it. The Dino bone went to a family with a large dog.
Yesterday I walked outside with a banana half peeled and Mary Ann jumped on my arm, knocking the top half of the banana to the ground. I really wanted that banana. Greedy chickens are a problem sometimes.
Not to rabbit trail or anything, but do you know that my youngest child is homeschooled? He’s using the K12 curriculum, basically public charter school done from home. I say that because he sat on the back porch to do his work this morning. He opened a granola bar once he sat down. This happened.
Both girls heard the crinkling package, saw him sit, and were in his lap. See this?
That bulge in his cheek? My boy’s no dummy. He knows that it’s all or nothing with these girls, so he stuffed the entire bar in his mouth. They weren’t happy.
The girls aren’t dummies, either. They decided, since they couldn’t eat his granola bar, that they’d help him with his schoolwork. Getting even, they call it.
How have the dogs adjusted to having to share the backyard with chickens and ducks? I get the look. This look.
Once they realized, last year, that they couldn’t eat the chickens, they’ve done everything they can to just annoy the chickens. They run over to the coop to play fight, getting the girls all stirred up. They get all kinds of “treats”, in the form of duck and chicken poo. They’ve adjusted just fine.
Y’all, Tuesdays will soon become Tasty Treat Tuesdays. I love that Kol’s has that fun blog hop. Ours, however, will pop through all of the treats that Jones Natural Chews has to offer. I’m looking forward to it. Flash and Patches are looking forward to Tuesdays. My local friends don’t know it yet, but their dogs are looking forward to it, since Flash and Patches need to share the love.
Another Tuesday treat will be a once a month treat giveaway. Something for my non-local friends to look forward to! See how we share the love? It’s what we do best.
Now! Off to do the other thing I do best, and visit y’all’s blogs!
Until I write again …
