The Crown Knuckle Giveaway

July 9, 2013

The Crown Knuckle is a prize among meaty treats! Crusty with meaty tidbits, hard, flavorful bone for lots of great gnawing time, irresistible to dogs! And today, we’re giving away a Crown Knuckle. Just what is a Crown Knuckle? I thought you’d never ask …

Keeshond checking out a Jones Crown Knuckle
Jingle, a fluffy Keeshond, checks out a Jones Crown Knuckle.

The Crown Knuckle is a treat for a medium to large size dog. I kept thinking, “It’s a knuckle. How big could it be?” Then I see it up close and personal and realize that small dogs just aren’t going to get their jaws around these things. (If you comment and have a small dog and win, we’ll send you Steer Sticks, which are very yummy for all size dogs!)

Keeshond begs for a Steer Stick from Jones.
Jingle does everything she’s asked, and more, to get a Steer Stick.

Here’s what Jones Natural Chews has to say about their Crown Knuckle:
If the crown fits! As you know, crowns always have their gems for flavor. Our crowns have scrumptious meaty tidbits dipped in natural liquid smoke to make the perfect treat.  Great for medium to large size dogs. These USA knuckles are from the beef tibia on the hind leg.
Mmm. Beef tibia. You’re drooling now, don’t lie. Your dog is, at least.

Keeshond and a Crown Knuckle
Jingle knows she can’t get her jaws around this Crown Knuckle. This makes her very sad.

Here’s the deal with the Crown Knuckle – I’m not lying when I say it’s for medium to large size dogs. Jingle is about 35 pounds and I can’t imagine her getting any part of the knuckle into her mouth. She wasn’t interested, as good as it smells (she spent some time checking it out). My own dogs, 50 pounders, are never overly interested in bones this large. They know it will hurt their jaws to even try to eat.

Also, this is a bone end cap. If you have a large dog, it will LOVE the Crown Knuckle! Just make sure to monitor the chewing, as you would with any dog, any bone, any treat producer. Bones all have the potential to splinter, but I think that the knuckle responds to chewing differently than a regular bone, being rounded and a bone connector. When I’ve watched dogs gnaw on knuckles, they eventually come off in little bits, which the dogs scarf up. Mmmmm!

So leave a comment, let me know which treat you’d like if you win. Steer Sticks or the Crown Knuckle. If you don’t know what a Steer Stick is, please see last Tuesday’s post. I described it in great detail and it really is a post you don’t want to miss. Well, you’ll want to miss it if you’re easily embarrassed.

Again, I’d like to heartily congratulate Miss Carma Poodale on winning last week’s Steer Stick treat!

The deadline for today’s giveaway is Thursday at midnight, Tulsa time (CST). The winner will be announced next Monday morning! If you don’t comment, you can’t win! And why are we giving away so many treats in July? To celebrate our one year blogaversary, of course! So don’t lose heart if you don’t win – there’s always next week!

Until I write again …

Flea

P.S. Humperdink came through his surgery just fine. I was calling him Humpy for short, but now I’ll be calling him Dinky for short, poor dear rabbit. The vet told us that he has to stay in his cage for ten days, then go back to have the sutures removed. I walked up to his cage first thing this morning and he didn’t get up to greet me. I called his name. He just lay there. Honestly, I thought he was dead. So I poked him through the bars and he jumped up. Good meds, I guess. Thought y’all would want to know. He’s doing great.
