Tasty Tuesday Update

July 29, 2014

Hey y’all! Today’s Tasty Tuesday is all over the place. There’s just a lot to put on the table today, starting with the treat reviews and giveaways. Let’s begin with that.

Blueberry, over at Spotty, Spotty, Polkadotty, wrote an exceptionally hilarious review of both the Lamb Lung Puffs and the Windee Rings. I laughed so hard I thought I’d die. Pop over and leave a comment for a chance at winning a bag of either treat for your own pooch!

Jon Farleigh and Dewi, two handsome Cardigan Corgis, think Jones Natural Chews are nomalicious! Check out their review of the treats, as well as enter the giveaway!

Cardigan Welsh Corgi
Dewi at Blog Paws! This Corgi likes Jones Chews as much as his mama likes Reeses peanut butter cups. But not as much as I like Reeses peanut butter cups. Honest.

Chester and Gretel are also hosting a great giveaway, so don’t miss out! I just love Jessica, at Your Did What With Your Wiener!

Another review, which I think you’ll love, is at Emily Reviews (check her out – she knows the value of a great all-natural treat).

The reason I’m so late posting today is because I had to run to the vet first thing this morning. NOTHING SERIOUS. Really. Flash has been a good boy for a week since his surgery. I can’t put a collar on him, since the incision is on his neck, near his shoulder, so I don’t leash him to go out to the bathroom. Last night I let all the dogs out to do their business and Chewy and Patches took off after a rabbit. They went the wrong direction, while Flash sauntered out to pee.

Turns out the rabbit was sitting in the middle of the yard, trying to be invisible. Flash managed to accidentally walk over to it, startling the poor thing. Well of COURSE he took off after it like a puppy would. All the way across the yard. At top speed. Opening half his stitches. And of COURSE I didn’t notice that the incision was open until bedtime last night.

I think that because it’s half healed, he didn’t really bleed. It’s just a pink hole. But definitely a hole. So I took him back to the vet first thing this morning, where they’re sedating lightly, cleaning the wound, then stitching him back up. I’m open to suggestions for keeping him still. Hunny says I should take him potty in the front yard, but the rabbits live there, too. Stupid rabbits.

Humperdink, the Holland Lop
Flash chased a yard rabbit. Not this rabbit. Although this rabbit is the cutest thing EVER. Ever.

As for Pippin, my wounded chicken, she’s doing better. I have her in a large dog crate next to the house, with the cat carrier in it in case she wants to be “safe”. She won’t go into it, though. She’s finally eating well, but still limping. Getting around better, but limping. I’m giving her another day before putting her back into the pen with the other girls. They’re mean girls. She’s getting plenty of leftovers, in addition to her crumbles, especially bits of watermelon.

I say, I say, Boy …
Pippin is a Brown Leghorn.

Pippin and Merry are sister chicks. Here’s a shot of Merry, taken this weekend. I can’t tell them apart.

Brown Leghorn
Merry is a pretty girl, but nearly identical to her sister, Pippin.

And here’s Hunny, keeping Mary Ann out of his lunch. The chickens are such pigs.

Mary Ann is the biggest pig of all. She wants whatever he’s eating. Hunny says no.

So! Take a moment to pop over to Blueberry’s post and Dewi and Jon Farleigh’s post to say hi and enter their giveaways, as well as visiting Chester and Gretel! Your dog will smile. And head to Natural Dog Treat Shop to see what other nomalicious treats Jones has to offer! Thanks for joining us on this Tasty Tuesday!

Until I write again …
