Sweet Friday Follow Up

July 26, 2013

I’ll be answering questions today, but first I want to thank JoAnn, at Sand Spring Chesapeakes, for the Super Sweet blogger award! I don’t usually play the award game, but I get to answer questions, so let’s go! Here’s the photo of the award, which just makes me want to head out to the nearest cupcake shop. 🙁

blogging award
Super Sweet Award – mmmmm

The questions that come with the award are as follows:

 • Cookies or cake? Ice cream. Seriously.
 • Chocolate or vanilla? Coffee. With Heath bar bits.
 • Favorite sweet treat? Ben’n’Jerry’s Coffee Heath Bar Crunch – see what I’m talking about?
 • When do you crave sweet things most? Not too frequently. I usually crave salty, which has me popping corn on the stove or digging for Fritos. But when I do crave sweet, it’s usually late at night, sadly.
 • Sweet nickname? I don’t think I have a sweet nickname. My Hunny calls me Flea. I call other people Sugar, though. Does that count? Or is that just Southern?

I’m not passing on the award, since I’m not an awards kind of girl. Not because I don’t like and appreciate them – thank you, JoAnn, for thinking of me! – but because I’m too distracted already and could go on all day about this. 🙂

Y’all, I write about dogs pretty extensively Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Not AS much on Thursdays, but still about dogs. So Friday comes and is always a surprise to me as I go back through the questions. Today’s first question is about Ryan the Goose, from Taryn:
Ryan will either break your heart and fly away one day without so much as a Thanks, or he’s planning on being a lifer. I guess you will find out when his male hormones kick in! Or is he a male? Do you know for sure?
Ryan the Canada goose
My “attack” goose really only attacks my phone

I don’t think I’ll ever really know for sure if Ryan is male or female. Best guess is that Ryan is a girl, based on the company she keeps, namely a male duck.

Jodi, at Heart Like a Dog, also asks about Ryan:
Ryan is expected to fly away right? If not, you might have to start saving up to put him through college.
BOL!!! Heavens, I sure hope goose college isn’t expensive! I’m beginning to think she won’t fly away, since she should have flown by now. I throw her in the air occasionally, but she flutters to the ground. And speaking of things birds are supposed to do, the chicks were supposed to start laying soon. I’ve been looking all over the yard for eggs. Check out what I found yesterday:

Fresh eggs
Big eggs! Little eggs! Brown eggs and white eggs!

So now I know. Right under my nose. I’ve removed all but two eggs – one large and one small, and I’ve marked those with Sharpie – and boiled up the rest to give back to the girls, since the eggs were there awhile in the heat.

Back to dogs! Gizmo asks, in regard to Wednesday’s Mutt post:
I don’t know why the word “mutt” has gained such a bad rap…Some of the most beautiful, amazing. talented dogs ever are of “combined parentage” (like my new PC term for mutt? 🙂 )
Gizmo, I love it! All but three of my dogs in my 45 years has been a Mutt. Two of those purebred dogs were not good dogs in my memory. I love breed dogs, but I like your new term. Combined parentage. Thanks!

Y’all need to pay serious attention to the next question from Oz the Terrier:
Just stopping by to let you know that I left something on my blog for your today!! Could it be that you were limerick-ed?!? *zoomies in circles*
Did you SEE?!? Did you see that the Great and Powerful Oz has written for me a limerick?!? *happy dance* I’m so excited! Go read it!!

Two last questions – first from Emma:
Rowdy is super cute! Is he also rowdy???
Rowdy’s mama tells me that he is calm for an Australian Shepherd pup, so no. Rowdy is not rowdy. Weird.

Australian Shepherd puppy
He only looks rowdy, but I know he likes treats.

JoAnn, at Sand Spring Chesapeakes, asks:
So has Humperdinkle humped since his surgery?
Heh. No. And that’s so nice. He does a lot more of this:

Relaxing with the dog
Humpy takes a chill pill and relaxes

And this:

Rabbit staying cool
Humperdink the rabbit LOVES the A/C vent

Y’all have a great weekend! Come back Monday for a chuckle, as well as the announcement of the chew winner. Then come back Thursday for our last blogaversary treat giveaway! If you can’t wait to see if you’re a winner, you can always look for Jones Natural Chews at a pet store near you, or order from Natural Dog Treat Shop online.

Until I write again …
