Is that an offensive title? Sniffing butts over the weekend? Because maybe I didn’t actually sniff any dogs’ rear ends, but I met a whole lot of super cute dogs this weekend. They all sniffed the back of my hand before I scratched them. Ultimately they wiggle around till I’m scratching their butts. Does that count?
Y’all met the adorable little Pyrenean Shepherd yesterday:
And the Border Collie and Bearded Collie on Monday:
As well as the Shetland Sheepdog:
But check out the All American Dog I met this weekend at the AKC Dog Agility Championships:
Y’all, this little dog is a rescue pup and reminded me a lot of Gizmo, one of my favorite dogs.
Gizmo is a handsome terrier, yes? I also met (and watch for future dog of the week posts) a Dalmatian and pup:
A pretty German Wirehaired Pointer:
This adorable Golden Retriever:
Toto! Okay, it’s a Cairn Terrier, otherwise known as the little dog in The Wizard of Oz:
There are a few more photos I’ll reserve for another day. And some chick photos I’ll save for the end. 🙂
So I was sniffing butts this weekend, meeting and greeting new dogs. All gorgeous specimens of their breeds. Then I came home to my own two dogs, handsome mongrels, old for their breed, waiting for the treats I couldn’t give to the purebred agility dogs. And I was grateful to see my babies, pet them the way I know they love. They were happy to see me, after they sniffed me thoroughly, reading all the scent I carried home.
My next task, motivated by the weekend agility trials, is to begin building an agility course in the backyard for my girls. They’re a little small yet, but I think they’ll enjoy agility.
Not the prettiest chicks in the world right now. They’re about two and a half to three weeks old and their feathers are coming in all wonky, which is normal. Ugly little dinosaur chicks.
Look at those big, powerful legs! These chickens are going to blow away the agility competition.
Did you know that there is also goat and rabbit agility? I talked to a woman who sells agility features for the backyard and she told me about it. What fun! All the more reason to push for a goat. 🙂
Quite frankly, I think my chickens will do a better job. We’ll see. Y’all have a great day!
Until I write again …
