A good friend, Haopee of My Dogs Love Me, asked if I’d do a review for Snap Leash. Haopee doesn’t live in the US, and didn’t feel right about doing the review, since the company is US based. Well, I obviously love companies which are based in America, what with representing a 100% made in America treat, and my wee dog needed a new leash, so I contacted Snap Leash and they sent me their small black leash to try out and review. I’m so glad I did.
Snap Leash does exactly what the name implies. There’s a snap on either end of the leash, instead of snap at one end and handle at the other. Yes, you make your own handle. There are grommets along the length of the leash for handle making.
I’ll admit, the first grommet is a little far, so it doesn’t make the best handle for walking. But this leash is a GENIUS invention for other purposes. Such as looping it through a chair and securing the end easily while you eat.
Wrapping the free end around your waist and snapping it in place, freeing your hands while the dog is secure. Wrapping the end around the base of a sign or tree while you put coins in a meter, or juggle packages into your car.
But none of that is the genius I love most. I took this leash to Bark World and used it exclusively the entire trip. It was all fine and dandy. And then Alicia brought me an extra dog, Gadget.
Holy crap. Two tiny dogs, one I didn’t know, in a huge hotel, having to be taken out to go potty a million times a day. Walking all over the hotel. Traveling back to Baton Rouge, then Tulsa. I’ve never leashed dogs so much in my LIFE. All new territory for me. And now to have two? I know what that’s like, all tangled up in leashes, stepping through and over, twisting like some contortionist to get out of the leash tangle … nope. Not with the Snap Leash.
Y’all, this rocked my world. What kind of brilliant mind comes up with this?! A snap at each end, so I can have a dog at each end! I just flip my hand when the dogs cross. No tangling! No frustration! It was AWESOME!
So. The pros and cons. I didn’t like that the first grommet is so far from the snap. Using this as a simple leash for walking the dog, I like a smaller handle. But using the leash when I need hands free, or am walking two dogs at once, it is AWESOME. Snap Leash deserves a big ol’ Jumbo Bone for creating this leash!
Until I write again …
