I don’t have it in me today, folks. It’s a sad day. My FaceCrack feed, like yours, is filled with 9/11 memorials. Our hearts break today as we remember the men and women who died in the attack on the World Trade Center. We hurt remembering the fire fighters and EMTs and so many more who rushed in to save people and gave their lives so bravely. I hurt remembering the evil behind it all.
We mourn the loss, yes. But there’s also a shared remembrance of where we were, what we were doing, when we first heard of the attack. So many of us turned on our televisions just in time to watch a plane fly into the second tower. We wept. We sobbed. Our country raged and cried and rallied behind a common cause. Rallied against evil and hatred and death.
Today, the anniversary of such pain and sorrow, we take time to feel the outrage and hurt all over again. We take time to miss those whose lives were lost because of the actions of a handful of evil men. We take time to mourn those who willingly flung themselves into infernos to save others. We take time to remember how much we love our freedom, love living in America. We take time to be grateful for what we have, who we are.
I do, anyway.
Jones Natural Chews, if I may speak for them, is proud to be American. We all mourn together. We remember together. Hug your dogs. Hug your kids. Say a prayer for the brave men and women in uniform who protect us day and night.
Until I write again …
