S is for Snapz! I love this A to Z Challenge. Snapz! Beef Liver Taffies is one of our two featured Jones Natural Chews treats this month. And here to model the Snapz! and their allure to dogs big and small is Buddy the rescue dog!
Buddy is, his mama thinks, part Dalmatian. I fell madly in love with Buddy’s spotty coat. And here’s what Buddy’s mama told me before I visited (not an exact quote, but close enough):
Don’t expect Buddy to come near you. He doesn’t like strangers. And he doesn’t really like treats. He doesn’t chew things at all and probably won’t take a treat.
Yeah. Like I ever take that seriously. I come bearing Jones, after all. It’s magical.
So I showed up and asked for the scissors. I love that Jones has really high quality standards and wraps their treats appropriately, but jeehosaphat are they tough to open without scissors. I opened a Knee Cap and that didn’t go over so well. Initially.
Then I opened the Snapz! and sat on the floor and waited. It took Buddy a few minutes to figure out where the luscious beef liver smell was coming from. He edged closer and closer.
And closer still. Then gingerly took a Snapz! Beef Liver Taffy from my hand. The all natural meaty goodness is magical, I tell ya.
It wasn’t long before Buddy settled in next to me and was letting me scratch his back end, taking treats from me like there was no tomorrow. The beef liver is an ice breaker with nearly every dog I’ve met.
(In fact, talked to a friend tonight whose Yorkie is poorly trained and will run off periodically. No longer. He stands at the door with a Beef Liver Taffy and she runs right back in the house for it.)
After a few Snapz!, Buddy was ready to try the Knee Cap from Jones. Surely I wasn’t going to steer him wrong after the taffies. Let’s see what Buddy decided to do with that Knee Cap.
Y’all, Buddy seriously held this Knee Cap in his mouth the next 45 minutes I was there. He was drooling EVERYWHERE. Really. I felt kinda bad. His mama says he’s not a drooler. Ever.
So a big thank you to Buddy’s mama. She’s the same friend to whom we chose to give our Humperdink last year. She paid him royally to help her in photo shoots this last month. I recommend her if you’re looking for a Tulsa area photographer.
And that’s a wrap! Come back tomorrow for an interview and the letter T!
Until I write again …
