Picture with me: Valentine’s Day in New York City, the city that never sleeps. Elegantly dressed dogs, both large and small. Women and men dressed to the nines, bearing gifts. Tables spread with delicacies, for both human and canine consumption. Toss in a couple of hairless cats. And voila! It’s Pugs for Pinky, a wedding event for two adorable Pugs, Rose and Kismet.
The lovely Carol Bryant, of Fidose of Reality, invited me to Rose and Kismet’s nuptial event. How could I say no? And for such a good cause! Before we take a look at some of the beautiful creatures, let’s learn a bit about Pugs for Pinky. You might even wish to donate.
PUGS FOR PINKY RAISES MONEY TO HELP SICK PUGS AND THEIR PEOPLE WITH HIGH MEDICAL COSTS. OUR LARGEST ANNUAL FUNDRAISER IS HELD EACH YEAR IN APRIL WITH SMALLER FUND RAISING EVENTS AND ONLINE FACEBOOK AUCTIONS THROUGH-OUT THE YEAR. IN 2012 WE WERE ABLE TO HELP 9 PUGS AND IN 2013 WE ALMOST DOUBLED THAT, HELPING 17 PUGS. OUR GOAL IS TO HELP AS MANY PUGS AS POSSIBLE WITH A % OF THEIR MEDICAL COSTS.
Simple. Elegant. Purposeful. Just like a Pug wedding in New York City on Valentine’s Day. Without further ado, let’s see what transpired.
What it all boils down to, y’all, is that there were a ton of adorable dogs in fancy clothes all in one place, all for a very good cause. Pugs are darling little dogs, but some are not the healthiest creatures. Good veterinary care can be very expensive for a family that’s not expecting it. And why Pinky the Pug? Here’s why:
I was big sister in a litter of 4! My job was to help my Mom pet sit and keep everyone in line! I was a tough princess with a big heart! I had seizures so I wore a pink helmet to protect my head while my pink bells helped alert my family of any oncoming seizures. “PUGS FOR PINKY” helps sick Pugs and their people with high medical costs.
Straight from the Pug’s mouth, people. Pinky lived almost exactly five years before crossing the Rainbow Bridge. Her legacy lives on in Pugs for Pinky fundraising events, helping other Pugs, saving lives.
