Photo Shoot with a Chicken

June 20, 2013

I love This n That Thursday. Thank you, 2 Brown Dawgs, for sponsoring this. Because there’s been a lot going on this week. Like yesterday. A photo shoot with the chickens.

Ginger loves watermelon
This isn’t Jill’s photo. It’s mine. Yes, I stood behind her with my phone snapping pictures. But Ginger was so CUTE! I just had to.

Now y’all know I photograph the chickens, ducks, dogs, rabbit and goose all the time. With my little phone. But Ginger and Mary Ann got a phone call awhile back from a REAL photographer. We set it up and I drove the van. Chickens can’t drive. Duh.

Cute girls and a chicken
Ginger is having a conversation with the oldest girl. I think she’s asking if it’s time to go home yet.

Jill, the photographer, has an amazing eye for color and style. She set everything up beautifully. And the girls were adorable. All to showcase Ginger, the star of the show.

Feeding watermelon to a chicken
The girls were enamored of Ginger, wanting to pet her and feed her the watermelon. I was impressed with how well my chicken did. The photo shoot was at least an hour.

When we drove up, the owner of the property walked out carrying a dog.

Wire haired dachshund
Daffy, the cute pooch

The face looked super familiar, but the fur threw me. What on earth? Do you know? Look again.

Dachshund
Look at this cute face! The long nose! Surely you know what it is?

Yes, that’s a Dachshund face! I’d never seen a wire haired Dachshund in real life! What a cutie pie little Daffy is.

Daffy the wire haired dachshund
Silky looking, Daffy was quiet and sweet.

Isn’t he darling? His coloring reminds me of a Yorkie.

In other news, the news half of you are waiting for, Ryan Gosling is growing.

Hey Girl
Ryan Gosling’s Hey Girl look. Just for you. You’re welcome. Look at the size of those feet!

And yes, I still snuggle with him almost every night.

Scared goose
Usually Ryan settles into my collar bone, but the chickens were active. He’s terrified of the chickens. Again.

But I’m training Ryan to do something special. I’m teaching him water ballet.

Ryan Gosling's butt
We call this move the Goose Caboose. Yes, you all are looking at Ryan Gosling’s butt. Again, you’re welcome.

If I had another goose, it would be synchronized swimming. Poor dear, isolated from his people.

A goose upside down
I sent this photo to my husband and he thought Ryan had died in the pool. This goose loves being upside down.

Yeah. He’s not very graceful. But he sure is cute. And he’s still growing.

In yet other news, and this really isn’t news, my dogs were begging for treats. Well, not exactly, but they were. Flash is supremely annoyed by the rabbit, so he climbs up next to me, wherever I am, and gives me sad eyes. I usually pet him, but lately I’ve been breaking out the Jones Big Paw Jerky when I get the sad eyes.

Sweet dog
He was directing the sad eyes at the bunny, who wanted to hop up onto the tiny ottoman with Flash. Treats followed.

Seriously. How could I not?

You’ll want to be checking in pretty regularly in July. It’s our blogaversary! We’ll be giving away treats! The very best of treats.

Until I write again ..
