I so badly wanted today to be P is for Poultry.
But C was for chicken. So. Today’s P is for Pork! And Jones knows pork. Y’all, I think I’ve written more about the Jones chews in one month than ever, with this A to Z Challenge.
Let’s see what Jones has to offer in the way of pork treats for dogs.
- Pork Femur Bone
- Pig Ears Premium
- Pig Ears Smoked
- Pumpers
- Pig Ear Standard
- Pig Ear Snax
- K9 Bacon Roll
- Ears Etc
- The Other Ear
Allow me to walk you through these glorious treats. Think of them as bacon and pork chops for your pooch.
Pork Femur Bone – the only pork bone Jones offers, it’s dipped in natural liquid smoke, slow baked and meant for medium to large dogs, or aggressive chewers – this is a gnawing treat, not an eating treat
Pig Ears (all) – The premium and snax are both baked, with the premium being a larger ear – single ingredient treats that will make your dog drool like a fiend – The snax are pieces of the ear, for smaller dogs who can’t physically afford to eat an entire ear (fat and calories) – the smoked ear is smoked instead of baked
Pumpers – a pig heart that all dogs will love, baked to perfection
K9 Bacon Roll – A single ingredient treat that comes in a variety of lengths, they’re rolled, baked pork skin and make great fetch toys and treats – the perfect replacement for evil rawhides
The Other Ear – A more affordable, and quite frankly, tastier, treat than the actual ear, the Other Ear is a single ingredient treat – the pig chin! Your dog will LOVE this treat!
A word of caution with the pork products, particularly the ears and chins – because they’re pork and skin, they’re higher in fat and calorie content. I recommend either giving them to larger dogs, or purchasing the snax for smaller dogs. That, or you can monitor your dog and take the treat away after a few minutes of chewing. These treats are SO tasty that no dog will want to give them up. And the snax are the absolute perfect size for small dogs.
My big dogs are fans of the ear and chin and will eat an entire one in about a minute. They don’t often get them, since I tend to treat as rewards for commands. I use the taffies and jerkies most often. But if your dog get a treat at day’s end, any of these pork treats would be perfect.
Y’all come back on Monday for funny videos! It’ll be Q and R, so I have no idea where that will go. Somewhere interesting, I’m sure. 😉
Until I write again …
