Missing BlogPaws
Most of you know my situation, that I was diagnosed, this January, with stage three rectal cancer. I’ve missed out on a lot this year in the way of dog events. Missing BlogPaws may be the most difficult of all of the events. It’s occurring right now, and, not to be dramatic or anything, but ALL OF MY FRIENDS ARE THERE. Without me. That said, some of the BlogPaws attendees are kind enough to stop here in Tulsa and visit. I’m not utterly alone in the world, bereft of friends and dogs. Why, just yesterday Kevin and Rachael of My Dog Likes stopped in on their way from Buffalo, NY, to Phoenix, AZ. Say hi to their gorgeous Golden Retrievers, Harley and Charley.
We had such a lovely visit. Lunch, chat, Harley and Charley took a dip in the koi pond – it was fun! I tried to get the secret to the Bush Beans recipe out of Charlie using reverse psychology. To no avail.
He already knew the recipe. He wasn’t falling for it. Dang it!
Harley and Charley are cruising across America following their fun at BlogPaws, and Jones Natural Chews is one of their travel sponsors. They’ll be handing out treats along the way, I think. I was kinda hoping they’d be handing out cans of Bush Beans, but dogs and beans don’t necessarily get along. I think asking Bush to sponsor them would be grand, and is worth a shot, though.
A Mini BlogPaws
I’ve missed out on all the best dog events, including Westminster and Global Pet Expo. I did attend the AKC National Agility Trials (yay for it being in Tulsa this year!), as well as a fun barrel racing event which was attended by lots of dogs. But missing out on BlogPaws is the biggest blow. Fortunately, a mini BlogPaws happens at my house. Next week there will be photos of some amazing dogs that will visit on their way home from the event. This will include Louie the French Dog, one of my all-time favorite pups.
And Dexter, of Fidose of Reality, my favorite Cocker Spaniel.
So really, what am I missing out on? Well, plenty! Classes of all stripes. People I only see once every year or two. Dogs, cats, pigs, ferrets, capybara, rats, rabbits – BlogPaws is for all kinds of animals. And when I attend, I give away Jones Natural Chews to plenty of dogs. I also bring fowl. Baby fowl. So far Jones has had chicks, quail and ducklings at BlogPaws, and they’re always a big hit. Who doesn’t want to hold a tiny ball of fluffy feathers?!
So if you’ve never attended a blogging conference, and you’re a pet blogger, start saving your pennies to attend BlogPaws next year. The conference should be on the east coast somewhere. It’ll be announced Saturday night. You seriously don’t want to miss this event. It’s networking. learning, fantastic locations and food, fun travel, and just plain fun. You’ll be so glad you went. And next year I promise to be there. I’ll be the one giving out the very best dog treats known to dogkind. Be there or be square. Also? You’ll want to see and hold whatever baby birds I bring next! I have big plans …
