It’s Tasty Tuesday, a blog hop hosted by Kolchak Puggle and Sugar the Golden, so of course the letter of the day is M for meaty treat! I’m loving the A to Z challenge. Our treats this month are the Knee Cap and Beef Liver Taffy Snapz! (dog candy in a box), and both are meaty treats. Let’s see what Miss Priscilla had to say about the Beef Liver Taffy Snapz!
Miss Priscilla is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She’s about eight years old and her mama didn’t want a dog when they got her. She’s not an animal person. Fortunately for Priscilla, and for my friend, Priscilla is the best dog on the face of the planet, and amazing with her three girls.
Priscilla took to the taffy right off. A good meaty treat was just what she was looking for. Because she is tiny, Priscilla only ate one piece of taffy, torn into small bits, lest her digestive system revolt. But the Knee Cap was a whole different story.
I was there about 45 minutes, just hanging out, taking photos. Miss Priscilla gnawed on that Knee Cap pretty much the entire time. I was told, prior to visiting, that Priscilla wasn’t friendly with anyone other than family. She warmed right up to me and was my best friend in no time. Meaty treats are door openers with dogs.
But there’s more to Priscilla’s story. She was meant to be a breeding Cavalier. Early on she showed signs of hip dysplasia and a heart murmur, so her owner rehomed her with her current mama. No one wants those genetic issues showing up in the line.
The morning I arrived, the family had taken Priscilla to the vet. In a very short period of time, she’d stopped eating and had lost a bit of weight. It seems her murmur has become a more serious issue. The vet was talking about pricey tests that may or may not tell them what’s happening. The family is hurting, discussing next steps. We’ve all been there with our fur babies.
So I was glad to bring meaty treats to soothe Miss Priscilla’s soul. Dogs love good treats. She seemed quite content to gnaw and enjoy the sunshine that fine day.
A little bit about the Beef Liver Taffy Snapz! and the Knee Cap – the Snapz! are primarily beef liver, with five other all natural ingredients. The Knee Cap is exactly that, a cow’s knee cap. It’s a joint cover, so it’s sturdy, great for gnawing, and covered with meaty bits. Every dog I’ve met has gone nuts for the Knee Cap, after initially leaving it alone. They come back and gnaw for what seems forever. Next week I’ll show you a dog that couldn’t get enough of the Knee Cap.
Have a great Tuesday, everyone! Come back tomorrow when I cover the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in depth, whether or not it would be the right dog for you.
Until I write again …
