Why go to events like BarkWorld and BlogPaws if not to tell you about new products upon my return? Today we talk about Lucy Pet Products. Specifically, Surfin’ Jack Coconut Leave-In Conditioner for dogs. but we’ll also talk about Lucy and her mission.
I’ll be honest, and some of y’all already know this, but I only use bar shampoo to wash the dogs and my own hair. It’s a glorious thing. But I haven’t been using a conditioner on the dogs. Our little dogs, Chewy and Gadget, get baths about every two weeks. They’re fairly wiry haired, not overly soft-furred dogs.
Coming home from two weeks on the road, both little dogs were sticky and stiff with stuff they’d gotten into in different states, including the bacon that the cat guys gave them at BarkWorld. Naughty cat guys. The point is, the little dogs were gross and I couldn’t get my fingers through their fur.
We bathed the little dogs using our Chubbs bar. Then I remembered the Surfin’ Jack Leave-In Conditioner. Ran to the other room. Grabbed the spray. Spritzed the dogs. That was Sunday.
Today is Wednesday. Both dogs are silky soft. Not only have they never been silky soft at all, but they certainly have never stayed this clean feeling this long after a bath. Especially since we’ve been living with rain and mud every day since their bath. Color me impressed!
What’s just as impressive is the Lucy Pet Products company. I met the founder while at BarkWorld and he talked at length about Lucy’s beginning and vision. In a nutshell, here it is.
Lucy Pet Products is a family owned and operated business based in Thousand Oaks, California. Our President and founder Joey Herrick also founded The Lucy Pet Foundation, a registered 501 (c) (3) animal charity whose mission is to reduce pet overpopulation and the euthanasia of over 80,000 dogs and cats per week in the United States. “Lucy” is a female Chihuahua mix that had been out on her own for a long time. She was found completely covered with dirt, toenails curling under and tire marks on her back and malnourished. A few weeks after she was adopted, she gave birth to a litter. Lucy and her pups became the inspiration for the Lucy Pet Foundation. Today Lucy lives with our founder Joey Herrick and his family. Her story also helped inspire our first product line of shampoos. Lucy is featured on the label of our ‘Berry Berry Smellicious” shampoo and Leave-In Conditioning Spray.
Lucy Pet Products is a feel-good, fun brand, but we are serious about quality and improving the lives of pets’ and the people who love them. Our mission is to provide the highest quality products for your pet’s health and make wellness a top priority. Our products can be found in pet specialty stores across the USA and worldwide. …
Everyone at Lucy Pet Products loves animals. Our pets come to work with us, including shelter rescues “Surfin’ Jack”, Ricky the Cat, and his sidekick Ethel the cat. In 2015, Surfin’ Jack and Ricky the Cat starred in the “Lucy Bowl” TV commercial, which aired on Super Bowl Sunday and became one of the top 10 TV commercials of the year. Surfing’ Jack is quickly becoming an internet sensation with a loyal following on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. As our brand ambassador, Surfin’ Jack is on a mission to help shelter pets everywhere. Surfin’ Jack’s fun-loving personality was the inspiration for the Surfin’ Jack Coconut Shampoo and Leave-In Conditioning Spray.
Y’all, the coconut leave-in conditioner smells amazing. We lived in Orlando for eleven years and spent a lot of time at the beach. While I don’t miss Florida or the beach, I do miss that sun tan lotion smell, and this has the scent. It’s just right. The soft fur is just right, too. You’ll want some.

After Thanksgiving I’ll be doing another product review. While in Dallas, I met Keith, the inventor of the Pebble Smart Doggie Doorbell. It’s a genius idea, and he sent one home with me. While my Chewy was housebroken using the bells on the door handle method, I can’t hear jingle bells on the back door while I’m upstairs in the office. A doorbell is brilliant! So stay tuned! I’ll be teaching Chewy and Gadget to use this fun product!
