Did I tell y’all that I met a pretty, new dog this weekend? Her name is Mila. What kind of dog is this?
I was at the new pet store with Chewy, and my mom and Honey, having nails trimmed and teeth brushed, when I saw this beauty in line ahead of us.
Here’s her brief story as I heard it. Mila is three years old. As a puppy, she was a stray, taken in by the fella who runs the Tulsa opera company. The guy in line, her new owner, has her because the opera guy couldn’t keep her. It was a legit reason, but I can’t remember what. So the new owner found himself with this gorgeous dog. I asked what kind of cattle dog she is.
He tells me that the opera guy (btw – the new owner is also an opera guy and works for the old owner – how cool is that?) ordered a DNA test to figure out what kind of dog Mila is. Do you know? I was a little surprised. She’s pretty thin for three years, so that should have been a hint, and her fur is brindle and long-ish. She’s also not very tall, maybe 15 inches at the shoulder. Twenty, 25 pounds, maybe?
Turns out Miss Mila is a Blue Heeler/Whippet combination. How intriguing. And it just so happened that I had a bag of Jones Natural Chews in my purse. I asked if I could give her one and her dad said sure, but that she’s picky about what she eats. She might not like them. Silly man. All dogs like Jones Natural Chews. It makes them smile!
And then Chewy had his nails trimmed and his teeth cleaned. All in all, a good day.
Quick update on my buddy, Flash. He’s doing so well. I didn’t realize how poorly he was doing until after the surgery. He seems to be back to his old self.
I think he’s loving the treatment he’s getting, especially all the treats. Since Jones chews are so great for getting his pills down his throat, he gets plenty of them twice a day. And, per Jann Brown’s suggestion, I’m mixing canned pumpkin in with Flash’s kibble, to unblock his system after the anesthesia. He is loving the pumpkin! Thank you, Jann.
Y’all, if you’re in Vegas at SuperZoo, pop in and say hi to Suzy and Laura for me. And maybe beg a treat. They’re having a great time and would love to see you!
Until I write again …
