Y’all knew that.
A friend of mine came to visit a couple weeks back, at my request, bringing her new baby and three dogs. They live in a small apartment. Yes, three dogs. They moved to Tulsa with no baby and one dog, so the apartment was a good idea at the time. Since then they’ve had a baby and two stray dogs have found them and refused to leave.
This is the same friend who brought Ryan to my house. Something about not having enough time and space for a goose. Whatever. I gave her dogs treats anyway.
So when she brought over Sky (Australian Shepherd), Honey (Pit/Ridgeback/who knows mix) and Jack (some kind of terrier), we tried out the K9 Bacon Roll. Sky, as you see above, wanted the roller while it was still in the plastic wrapping. I don’t recommend giving dogs wrapped treats. Sky thought otherwise. We talked a bit and he decided to let me open it for him. Good boy, Sky.
The K9 Bacon Roll is a naturally baked, rolled pork skin. All three dogs wanted it. All three dogs wanted the Rib Roller. All three dogs wanted the Big Paw Jerky I keep on hand for dog emergencies. So all three dogs took turns chewing on each treat. And the stinky hoof that was under the coffee table. It’s not there anymore. 😉
Let’s talk about chew safety. I give a little speech to all dog moms while I’m handing their dogs a yummy treat. First I ask if their dog has eaten that day. Then the speech. Ready? We’ll do bullet points.
- Never give a dog treats on an empty stomach – treats are meant as a dessert or reward, not as food
- Always supervise your dog chewing a treat, especially a bone, taking bones away if they splinter or are small enough to fit in the dog’s mouth
- Know your dog’s chewing habits – aggressive chewers need treats for medium to large size dogs
That wasn’t so bad, was it? The beauty of the Jones Natural Chew is that it’s 100% all natural and 100% made in the USA! No nasty chemicals or weird ingredients. Even Miss M, the adorable baby, approves of these K9 Bacon Rolls. She’s about to start teething and I might find an extra one for her to chew on. Should I run that idea by her mom first?
Y’all have a Tasty Tuesday and I’ll see you tomorrow!
Until I write again …
