I’m a huge fan of the Jones Jumbo Bone. Today we’ll talk a little bit about the Jumbo Bone, but I want to share one family’s response to them, if y’all don’t mind. Do you know JoAnn, of Sand Spring Chesapeakes? Her hunting dogs, Glory, Nellie and Gambler, all give the bones four paws up! After Gambler works his magic on the box …
I think that’s the best response to Jones bones that I’ve ever seen! And it looks like those Jumbo Bones are just the right size for Chessies.
The Jumbo Bone is a cow femur, by the way, from the hind leg, dipped in natural liquid smoke before being baked. Here’s what Jones has to say about their bones:
We test all of our bones for splintering. We conduct pressure tests and moisture tests to ensure the best bone strength. Because of the all-natural process we put our bones through, they will not splinter any easier than a raw bone. As with any food or treat, supervision is always recommended – all dogs have different chewing habits. We at Jones’ give all of our own dogs our products with confidence.
Jumbo Bones are obviously a treat for large dog breeds. I mean, small dogs can enjoy the Jumbo Bone, but not on the same level.
Cosette could barely drag this bone around the house, while her big sister picks it up and trots away to gnaw. Speaking of gnawing, always keep in mind that bones are not meant to be eaten. That might sound silly, but some dogs have extremely powerful jaws and can crunch through any bone, no matter the size. If your dog breaks a bone into pieces, take it away. Bones are for gnawing, for the cleaning of teeth and gums, for keeping a dog from being bored without adding calories. Bones ROCK. But bones are NOT meant to be consumed. Only gnawed.
What kind of dogs would the Jumbo Bone be perfect for? I’m so glad you asked!
