Joy in the Cause
“Joy in the Cause is a 501c3 charity focused on providing care, compassion, and joy, one personal act of kindness at a time.” Why would I tell you about this group that’s local to Tulsa? They sent a representative to visit me in the hospital last week.
It was one of the most touching visits ever. Not only was Kerri dressed as a giant chicken, she came bearing gifts and stories. Stories of what Joy in the Cause does to help people who are hurting. I think, primarily, they focus on cancer patients, but they help any and all causes where people are hurting. And they use a Bulldog to do it!
Mavis Pearl is the spokesdog for Joy in the Cause. She’s a therapy dog who visits local hospitals, making people’s stay a little brighter. Mavis Pearl, the stuffed dog, came to visit me in the hospital. Now she sits next to me while I recover, and she’ll probably go with me when I return to chemotherapy.
Mavis Pearl would like Jones Natural Chews, I’m thinking. I’ll be scheduling a treat photo shoot as soon as possible. I’d love to meet her in the fur. Here’s what the site has to say about this sweet Bulldog.
Mavis Pearl is a Dog with a Cause. She’s on a mission to spread laughter and joy to those who need a good dose of sunshine from a silly bulldog. She is a certified therapy dog often seen around town in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and cancer treatment centers. Mavis Pearl spreads sunshine wherever she goes. Her mission has been seen worldwide. From Poland to Portugal, Mavis is known for her fun loving spirit to help others in their time of need. It’s a guarantee that Mavis Pearl will bring a smile to your face. Laughter is the best medicine, and Mavis Pearl is some of the best medicine there is!
Y’all, what’s better, when you have cancer and are laid low, than to get a visit from a soft, jowly Bulldog in a tutu?
