Funny Dogs and Birds

November 19, 2012

I know it says funny dogs and birds, but who knows if we won’t find some bird dogs in the mix? Happy Monday, y’all! The first video is what looks like an older yellow lab (yay senior dogs!) and a white … house bird. What is this? An exotic parakeet? A small parrot? It’s beautiful. Now that I have chickens and ducks, all indoor birds are house birds. But this is darling, y’all.

I just have to sneak in a photo of my own dogs and birds. First, my beautiful senior dog, Flash.

My pretty senior Aussie
Isn’t he a beautiful boy? I’m not biased or anything. *cough* Give that dog a treat!

And another video! Okay, a preface. This is quite possibly the sweetest dog/bird video I’ve ever seen. Ear to ear smiles. But SURELY it’s not Randy Newman singing. My son asked me to make whoever was singing die. So you might want to turn your speakers off. Just sayin’.

This little green parrot – or is it a Quaker parakeet? – and what looks to be a puppy crack me UP. Fighting over a pudding cup. Enjoy.

Wasn’t that sweet and funny? And because I don’t want to play favorites, here’s my big baby, Patches.

Senior dog, Patches
Patches loves to ride along when I pick up my daughter from work. She’d really love it if I let her drive. She doesn’t have a license, so I always tell her no.

Oh man. This bird dog is DYING, pointing. He knows this just isn’t right. What gorgeous creatures! And no, I am NOT thinking of their hides. Stop it.

The hides are coming along pretty well, by the way. The first batch is drying and the second batch is brining.

Petey (speaking of birds) is quite possibly the most affectionate bird I’ve had so far. He’s a nuzzler.

And I’m sure you’re wanting to know how the new cat is adjusting? There’s been a name change, by the way. He’s now Bosco, which suits him. I just call him Boss. He’s been living upstairs, with the children, as the dogs live downstairs, but my youngest reports that he’s a stellar cat. Very lovey. And his meow is quiet. The middle boy brought him downstairs this weekend and here’s a photo.

Handsome orange tabby
Bosco, our rescue cat, is a handsome orange tabby. He seems to like it here.

Not a fan of the dogs.

And to wind up, a short heart-warming video. 🙂

And I’ll see y’all tomorrow!

Until I write again …
