Funny Bone Monday, the last one of the year! This being New Year’s Eve (Happy New Year’s, everyone!), I thought it would be fun to search for videos of dogs and fireworks. My own dogs are terrified of fireworks, or any loud noise, but I know that’s not so for all dogs. As a kid, we had a lab mix who chased our fireworks. Until he caught one. Then he didn’t like them anymore.
Yes. Almost just like that.
This poor boxer – I admit I’ve teased my dogs before. I’m hoping this guy stopped short of taking the boxer outside when the fireworks were going off.
Such a handsome creature.
Then there’s the dog who loves to fetch – I wish the video quality was better.
Hilarious.
But seriously, many, many dogs are terrified of loud noises. Fireworks, thunder, backfiring cars, etc. Most of the videos which came up were of people promising to help either help you learn to calm your dog or desensitize them to the fireworks. It’s a common problem. Here’s one of the vids, where the vet discusses the differences between fears and phobias.
Flash and Patches hide in the tub. Always comfortable, accessible and safe. We know there’s been a thunderstorm in the night when we find Patches in the tub in the morning.
And I’m posting this video just because the puppy is so stinkin’ cute.
Y’all all have a happy and safe New Year, ya hear? Don’t do anything stupid. Call a cab if you’re out and drinking. Keep your dog babies safe and sound. And definitely give them a chew, something yummy like a saddle bone from Jones, to keep them calm. 😉
Until I write again …
