Happy Friday, everyone! There’s a lot going on in the world at the moment, from the Olympics, to polar vortexes, up and coming Valentine’s Day, and whatever else is happening that I’m wonderfully oblivious to. I can’t cover it all, so I won’t talk about any of it. Instead, I’ve chosen a Friday question meme from The Friday Five. Play along if you’d like.

If you could do one thing every day that makes you happy, what would that be?
Happiness is overrated. There, I said it. Contentment is a different story. One thing, every day, to be content – go to sleep next to my Hunny every night. Tons of things flashed through my head – read my Bible, but that often frustrates or challenges me, which isn’t a bad thing. Play with the duck, but he won’t live forever. Same with my cute dogs. And I can live without the animals, though just barely. Plenty of other things. But contentment is knowing my Hunny is home and with me at the end of each day.

What is the one memory that stands out above all others (good/bad/weird/whatever)?
Oh geez. I picked a tough meme. Being ADD, most memories are gone by the end of the week. Stand out? This ADD thing means that the memory is pretty recent. I’d have to say attending the Weird Al concert with Squatch.

What is your ultimate comfort food?
What an odd question thrown into the mix! Ultimate? Dang. Macaroni and cheese, something I stopped eating years ago when we figured out that the kids and I are all ADD. I’m talking mac’n’cheese from a box, people. OM NOM NOM. Flash and Patches would say that their ultimate comfort treat is a Windee or Beef Liver Taffy. Jimmy would say that his is bread, which he doesn’t often get. I tend to give him lettuce.

Do you still have a possession(s) from your childhood that you keep for comfort and/or sentimental reasons? If so, what reason or memory is that?
I have Anne and Analiese, my dolls. Anne my mother made for me when I was eight years old. Her clothes are Little House on the Prairie, and the tatting at the edges was made by my great-grandmother. I love this doll. She and Analiese sit in my grandmother’s Victorian rocker in the corner of my bedroom. Analiese is a handmade Cabbage Patch type doll that my other grandmother had made for me. Her hair and eyes are the color of mine. I was in college when she gave it to me. And I just realized that I packed away their original clothes, They’re currently wearing my christening gown from 46 years ago and one of my baby gowns.

Do you or your family have heirlooms or special ‘hand-me-downs’?
I have some of my grandmother’s china and silver, while my mom has her demitasse china cups and the grandfather clock. There are wonderful things from my grandmother all over my house, including her artwork, which I treasure nearly as much as I treasure my mother’s artwork.
Will you play along? Even if it’s just answering one of the questions in the comments? I love hearing what other people remember and treasure. 🙂 And don’t forget to come back on Monday to see who won the treat!
Until I write again …
