A Fractured Mind

October 8, 2014

IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY ENTERED THE GIVEAWAY, GO DO IT NOW!!!

Bark World is coming up at the end of the month. I leave here in just two weeks, heading for Baton Rouge first to celebrate birthdays with a nephew and a niece. I currently have a fractured mind. So many things to get ready! So much to do! I’m taking Chewy to Bark World, so there’s more prep work this time around.

Affen mutt at the ready - ready to snooze
Chewy has done all the prep work he needs to. He has his stuffed fox and a bag full of Jones chews. Let’s go, mama!

Get ready to see my fractured mind fall into a million pieces before the end of October. And to hear me whine about traveling with a little dog. Not that he travels poorly. He travels super well. But he needs to be around more dogs. I’m not sure how he’ll do. As long as I have plenty of Jones Natural Chews on hand, he’ll be fine, right?

American mutt
He’ll be okay as long as I don’t dress him up like the American flag. I just thought … with Jones being an all American treat … and Chewy liking them so much … that … that … oh, never mind.

Did I tell you I have a fractured mind? I’m forgetting things left and right right now. Like my own name some days. And I forgot to tell you about the New Girls. They need names.

White Orpington pullets
Three White Orpington pullets. No geese. Dang it. But these girls are pretty, with white beaks and legs.

I also forgot about a leash review. Well, I didn’t forget. SnapLeash sent a way cool leash for Chewy, reminding me of the concept of a European leash, but more versatile and washable, and I’ll be writing a review for them. Mostly because I wanted a leash which would serve me well at Bark World. It allows me to do all kinds of cool things for Chewy. You’ll see more about it later, since I’ll be parading the leash around Bark World for every dog to see and be jealous of. I really do love it.

Confused Affen mix
“Mama, you’re going to make me wear a leash? The whole time we’re in Atlanta? Are you sure?”

So! Will you be at Bark World? Will your dog? Chewy has his Halloween costume for the costume party. He hates it. In fact, right this minute he’s “killing” part of his costume. He really hates it.

Affenpinscher mix in a winter coat
This is not Chewy’s Halloween costume. This is a great little winter coat from Gussie the Pug. Sadly, the coat is too small for the Chew Monster. But it is awfully cute.

Back to the girls – did I tell you that I have a fractured mind? – they need names. Here’s my dilemma. There are three of them. They’re all white. They all look pretty much like each other, all being White Orpington hens. I’ll never be able to tell them apart, shy of painting their toenails every month. Which I’m not going to do. The other hens would pick on them for that. I’m thinking of naming them maybe Blanche, Rose and Dorothy. But I never really watched the Golden Girls. And they’re white, not golden.

Pullets
Yes, this is more than three pullets. Three of these went to a new home yesterday.

So. Where does that leave them? I need name suggestions. And no, not Nugget or Pot Pie or Kiev. Real names. Not Tender Taffy either. Or Rotisserie.

Oh! And I’ll be stopping and having lunch with MK Clinton on the way to Baton Rouge! Right MK? So be ready to hear about that. Her dogs will be treated like royalty. Literally. I’ll be toting plenty of yummy treats from Jones. Then I’ll be staying with other dog families all along the way. And having lunch with Chewy’s foster parents while I’m in Atlanta! Yes, they’re moving to Atlanta before I arrive. So I’ll have photos of his foster brother, Frankie the Italian Greyhound. How exciting!

So what on earth am I doing still prattling here?!? I need to get crackin’! See y’all tomorrow! And don’t forget to enter the treat giveaway!

Until I write again …
