Hey! I know I’ve been AWOL the last couple of days, but it hasn’t been intentional. There are five dogs in the house. Have been since Monday night. FIVE DOGS IN THE HOUSE. Life doesn’t stop just because there are five dogs in the house, people.
But of those five dogs in the house, this pup is the star.
Gadget has been attached to me like Velcro, proving that the Brussels Griffon is, indeed, worthy of the moniker Velcro Dog. Oh my dog. I can’t move without his being on or near or touching me in some way. And heaven help the small dog which tries to come between me and that dog.
Chewy is perplexed. But Gadget and I have been working on proper dog etiquette. Meaning, these other dogs are mine. I love them. They WILL come to me for pets or to sit in my lap. And you will not snarl at them.
Sheesh. But for all that, he’s truly a charming little dog with a ton of personality. And he learns fairly quickly. He bit me a couple of times the very first day (a grab with his mouth to say no, not a real bite), but hasn’t done so since. I think being one of five dogs in the house has been beneficial to him. In fact, he’s even been playful with me the way Chewy is, biting my hand in a playful way, mouthing it like a puppy. And jumping up, biting me the way Chewy does. So I guess he has bitten me since, but it’s not been in a mean or angry way. I see it as a positive sign for him.
But all this ends today. My mom is back in town, having attended my baby brother’s wedding and returned. She’ll be picking up the lap babies later this morning. I’ll miss them. I will. But I won’t miss three small dogs sleeping on me all night, jockeying for position. Lemme tell ya, people – I won’t be having more than three dogs on a regular basis. In fact, I think two will be sufficient once my senior pooches pass over the Rainbow Bridge.
But it sure has been nice having five dogs in the house. More dogs to treat. Speaking of which, the dogs have depleted my treat stash. Time to pop over to Natural Dog Treat Shop and order more Beef Liver Taffy!
Until I write again …
