We haven’t seen the poultry here in awhile. For those of you who are new to the blog, welcome. I represent Jones Natural Chews here, and they carry a host of yummy all-natural dog treats, made primarily of meat and bones. Some of them are chicken treats.
No, the fowl which Jones produces does NOT come from my backyard chickens. I have five hens and a duck, and no one will be eating any of them. Ever. Though there are days that Jimmy’s fate is in question. He’s a feisty fowl.
Speaking of Jones chews, y’all pop over and see Sugar about winning some treats. It’ll open in a separate window. 😉 It’s been a difficult summer here at Casa de Pulga. Family stuff. Life. But we all have rough times, right? They’re made bearable, though, by the love of a family pet. A pet like Jimmy.
Oh my. Jimmy is a feisty fowl, that’s sure. My hands look like a geriatric’s, with their delicate bruises from Jimmy’s love bites. He’s a handsome duck, but none too gentle. Jimmy’s not just feisty with me. He’s pretty rough on the dogs. I have to give them treats after a round with Jim.
But our wee terrier, Chewy, puts Jim in his place quite handsomely.
And there are some days that the chickens get treats. They love Jones Chicken Taffy.
There are also some days that the hens are given belly rubs as a reward for laying eggs like champs.
My son likes to pamper the girls. So to what do you turn when you’re stressed? Do you bury your face in your dog’s fur? Your cat’s? Do you take your child to the park? Eat a tub of ice cream? I sit on the back porch with my chickens, duck and dog around me. It’s calming, being outside, feeling the breeze, hearing the gentle quack and cluck. As long as I don’t have food. If I have food, the chickens are in my lap, grabbing whatever they can get.
I’m hoping you’ve found what calms you. I’m hoping that it’s not a tub of ice cream. And if you’re local, or willing to travel, feel free to pop in and share a pot of coffee with me, as well as some time with my feisty fowl. If you’re good, I’ll even let you feed them Chicken Taffy. You know you want to.
Until I write again …
