It’s been a crazy week. Can I get an amen?
Spring is really here. My boy has a broken hand (ER visit, surgeon visit, pain meds – mommy wants her own pain meds), family is in town, baby chickens need more attention (meaning their cage needs to be cleaned every thirty seconds). Total family affair (chickens are family). And in the busyness of it all, I completely forgot that my mom was being featured on Roxy the Traveling Dog’s blog this week.
Roxy has a Tuesday feature called Artsy Fartsy Tuesday. I love the artists that she’s highlighted, as well as the work Roxy’s mom does. Didn’t you know? Roxy’s mom is an artisan, an eclectic craftsman, herself. She makes beautiful dog necklaces and matching people jewelry.
The feature on my mom surprised me. How, at 45 years old, can I not know some of these things about my artist mom? I mean, I know I love her work. It’s hanging all over my house. Y’all have seen my favorite piece, the squirrel (for my ADD self):
Her dog portraits are pretty darn amazing:
As are her cat portraits:
So pop over to my mom’s site and click around, see what she does. Pretty cool.
In other news, I took my boy to yet another doctor’s office yesterday. The doc asked what I do. I told her I dog blog. She told me all about her two chocolate labs, showed me photos of their lovely selves, as well as pictures of her pretty cats. I gave her a bag of Big Paw Jerky to try out with her dog. Yes, I keep dog treats in my purse. Another doctor came in and eyed the jerky. Begged for some. Jones chews make more than dogs smile, I think.
A couple of weeks ago, in case you missed it, I was interviewed by Coffee with a Canine. It was fun, fun, fun. So much fun, in fact, that I’m thinking I might like to interview other dog bloggers myself. It’s a nice opportunity to get info about yourself and your blog/cause out to a wider audience.
Last on this family affair day, but certainly not least, my sister and her family have been in town. My nephew is two and a half and we’ve enjoyed him immensely this week. He’s cute AND brilliant. You can’t ask for a whole lot more than that in a two and a half year old. My kids love him, too.
Nephew enjoyed the ducks and chickens. He especially wanted to climb into the chicken coop. We have to draw lines someplace …
Y’all, it’s been a long, delightful, wearing week. I’ll be catching up on blog reading today. Looking forward to seeing what everyone has been up to.
Until I write again …
