Dogs I Met in Louisiana (and Gave Treats To)

November 6, 2013

HAVE YOU ENTERED THE NOVEMBER GIVEAWAY? DO IT NOW!

That title – I’m obviously title-impaired. There are scads of extra photos of the dogs I met in Louisiana, so I’m taking advantage of today’s post and allowing y’all to say hello to some adorable pups all at once.

Eleven week old English Bulldog pup
Y’all remember the English Bulldog pup? This is definitely his Bulldog side.

Because it’s Wordless Wednesday (sponsored by Blog Paws), these photos fit just right into the blog hop.

Duke loves to be petted
Duke, a cousin’s dog, had a great time devouring a Jones Windee. He even licked up the crumbs afterward.
One of the dogs I met in Louisiana
Duke walked far, far away from me with his Windee, making sure I didn’t try to take it away. Dogs are so weird.

Duke is a handsome boy. I think he’s addicted to Jones chews now. I’m a treat pusher. And proud of it. 😉

Aria, the Chihuahua mix
Aria lives in Texarkana, but that’s close enough to Louisiana to count. She likes long walks on the driveway, chasing the cat, and Jones Natural Chews.
A Texarkana cat
Well of COURSE I got a photo of Aria’s cat. Duh.

Aria has an interesting story. I think she was a stray that wouldn’t go away. My friend, Karen, lives out in the country and people dump animals near her home pretty regularly. They usually wind up at the pound. It’s impossible to keep every animal that winds up near a country home. But little Aria wanted and needed to be the family pet. Then she disappeared. The family thought she’d been stolen, since she’s so stinkin’ cute. Nope. Turned up at the pound. Now she’s home with her family again. Everyone adores her cute self.

Cute Chihuahua mix
How could you not love this face?
Gumbo the Ghost Retriever
This photo makes me sad. I call it the Ghost Retriever. Gumbo is a hundred pound Golden Retriever living next door to my sister. I was playing with my new camera’s settings and thought I had them right. Nope. This is the best photo I got of sweet Gumbo.

Last, but not least, y’all remember Abbott, from yesterday’s post?

Dog with a ball
Abbott loves his ball as much as he loves Jones chews.

OMD. Abbott can chase a thrown ball for HOURS. I kept letting him out the back door and throwing his tennis ball. Every time I’d go inside then back out, he’d be waiting, head cocked, ball in mouth, for me to go back out and throw his ball. He’s two and tireless.

Handsome dog with a ball
Even inside Abbott has a ball to throw and fetch. What a sweet boy he is!

What an amazing trip! And what was waiting for me when I arrived home? These two.

Aussie Mutts waiting for a treat
I think they knew I’d been off giving Jones chews to other dogs. And yes, the first thing I did (before taking a nap) was to give them some Big Paw Jerky. They were happy to have mama home, and mama was happy to be home.

And this little fella:

My garden gnome
Just your average variety garden gnome, keeping an eye on things while I was gone.

If you haven’t yet entered the giveaway for treats, do it now! The deadline is tomorrow night! Y’all have a great day!

Until I write again …
