Dogs and Donkeys
Happy Funny Bone Monday! I’m consumed, lately, with our coming move to the country. I’ve been bribing dogs in small towns all around Tulsa, keeping bags of loose Jones Natural Chews in my car. Loose farm dogs, kept as protection from people and predators, are a thing, people. And so far they all love Jones. Who knew? Me. Every dog is my friend when I carry Jones Natural Chews. Conceal carry? Yep. Works pretty darn well.
In our travels we’ve seen quite a few donkeys and miniature donkeys. That led me to ask, how do dogs and donkeys get along? Looks like it’s a mixed bag. Today we’ll see the cute and funny videos of dogs and donkeys. At the end we’ll see two things – the property we’re trying to purchase, and the winner of our Bow Wow Boo Bucket giveaway.
Cute Videos Just for You
Our first dogs and donkeys video is a Great Dane playing with miniature donkeys. You’ll recognize the body language as playful with the dog. I don’t read donkey body language. But the two are about the same size, which is way cool.
Dogs are such exuberant creatures, are they not? Let’s see it again with a different dog.
I don’t know about the next dog being sick, but the video itself is very sweet. I love that large dogs and small donkeys are of a size and seem to get along pretty well together.
Imma be honest with y’all, though. The real reason I’m investigating the dogs and donkeys link is protection. I keep hearing that donkeys and miniature donkeys are great protection for herds and flocks. A couple of videos make it pretty clear, but I won’t show you those. Instead, let’s explore the idea here:
Honestly? We’ll still get a Great Pyrenees/Anatolian mix dog or two. The neighbor for the property we’re negotiating currently has a Great Pyrenees. According to the owner, who has Alzheimer’s, and whom we accidentally met yesterday, the dog belonged to him, but adopted the neighbor and protects her children. All that just means that the neighborhood is friendly to guardian dogs and their wandering ways. Take a look at our soon-to-be home site!
When I say the cotton woods look a lot like maples, I mean willows. I was staring at a maple tree, so that’s what came out of my mouth. But isn’t it purdy? We’re pretty darn excited.
