Dog Reveal

July 3, 2014

ENTER THE GIVEAWAY NOW! The dogs from yesterday? I apologize for some of the photos. Today I do a dog reveal and hope to clear up a couple of the dogs with different photos. I’m sure a couple of them in particular will be more obvious. I wish I’d had Jones chews with me when I met the pups, but owners get a little funny when strangers try and give their dogs treats. Keep in mind that I asked the owners the breeds of their dogs. Number one – Chinese Crested

Chinese Crested
I honestly think the Chinese Crested is an unattractive dog, but the pink housecoat does much to improve her looks. Her luxurious mane is obvious and beautiful, while her bare torso is covered up. Perfect!

Number two – Bloodhound

Bloodhound
This handsome Bloodhound could smell the Jones chews that I’d given to puppies the night before. Yes. This breed is that good.

Number three – Great Dane

Harlequin Great Dane
Maybe this Harlequin Dane is a better example of the breed? Big and beautiful, this Great Dane leaned right into me as I scratched his rear end. Danes are some of the sweetest, gentlest dogs on the planet.

Number four – Irish Setter, or as Sugar said, a redheaded Golden Retriever 😉

Irish Setter
I always confused Irish Setters and Golden Retrievers, until I began dog blogging. The rich red coat is probably my favorite color. Not that I’m biased toward redheads or anything.

Number five – English Bulldog

English Bulldog
How could this adorable English Bulldog face be mistaken for any other dog? Y’all pegged it. Good job!

Number six – Newfoundland

Newfoundland
This Newfoundland is black with white paws and chest. His “siblings” are a Great Pyrenees and a Bernese Mountain Dog. All three are mammoth, have thick coats, and are sweet as can be.

Number seven – Bull Terrier

Bull Terrier
I confuse the Bull Terrier and the Stafforshire Terrier. This is a Bull Terrier. He’s stocky and adorable.

Number eight – English Sheepdog

English Sheepdog
It was the strangest thing, seeing a shaved English Sheepdog. We had to ask what it was. They’re very large dogs, even without the coat.

Number nine – Japanese Chin

Japanese Chin
Honest to Pete, I thought this Japanese Chin (which I’d never heard of) was a malformed Maltese. Dogs at shows are pretty much in constant motion – there are plenty of other exciting dogs there to grab their attention – so yesterday’s photos were the better ones.

Number ten – Afghan Hound

Afghan Hound
The Afghan Hound carries itself like royalty.

Number eleven – Irish Wolfhound

Irish Wolfhound
See? Irish Wolfhound. I don’t know why, but I always confuse it with the Afghan.

Number twelve – I still have no idea, though Kate V suggested a Small Munsterlander UPDATE – Thanks to FaceCrack friends, this dog has been identified as the Stabyhoun!

Mystery dog
This is the clearest face photo I got of this mystery dog. See my confusion? The face doesn’t have any real defining characteristics, like a snub or pointed nose. No bulging or hooded eyes. No pointed ears. It’s just … what it is. This dog almost looks like a mix of several breeds, like scientists assembled it in a lab. But I love its spots and freckles.

This dog reveal has been fun! Please don’t forget to enter the treat giveaway!
