This weekend my boy, Sasquatch, and I will be going to the Weird Al concert! We can’t take the dogs.
I’m seriously considering taking the duck, though.
See that wading pool? I cleaned it out yesterday. Two dead rats were floating in it. I did not take pictures. You’re welcome. It was kinda cool, but also a sign that I need to change some of my feeding practices with the chickens. The hazards of raising backyard poultry … *sigh*
Speaking of the chickens and changing practices, last weekend we picked up a large wooden play house that someone was giving away on Craigslist. I’ve been scanning the Craigslist ads for weeks, looking for a large doghouse, coop, playhouse – anything large and sturdy enough to house the girls for winter.
This was free. It took work to dismantle, get it home, rebuild. So worth it. My chickens will be warm and safe all winter!
In other news, I’m heading to Louisiana next weekend. My little sister is having a baby! Her second, a girl, I’m calling her Leia. Sadly, my sister doesn’t have a dog. But! I’ll be staying with family, coming and going, that do have dogs! AND I’ll be having lunch with a dog blogger while I’m there! WOOHOO! I’ll be bringing treats, of course. 😉
So there’s our Thursday. Weird Al. Dead Rats. Dogs. Duck. Chicken Coop. Babies. Lunch. Sugar. Giveaway. I feel like I’m missing something … treats! Can’t forget the treats!
I’ve been using the Jones Chicken Taffy and Big Paw Jerky to train Patches (she’s eleven years old) to come in when I call her. Patches has been so bad about her selective hearing. The treats work! She comes every time I call, now. Yay!
Okay. That was it. Y’all have a great day!
Until I write again …
