Bag It Up
Happy Funny Bone Monday! Today we’ll be watching one of my favorite videos, Dog Doogity. You got to bag it up. The tune is catchy, and the message is always timely.
You’ll be singing this little ditty all day long. You’re so welcome. And as long as you bag it up, it’s worth the ear worm. I have another cute bag it up song for you. Ready?
Not quite as catchy, but still relevant. And here’s where I ask if you pick up after your dog when you’re walking. Do you? You’ll see an interesting fact at the end of the next video. It leaves me wondering whether picking up poo is really a good idea. I’ll ‘splain after you watch.
Billions of pounds of poop. All in tiny increments in little plastic bags. Even if the poop bags are biodegradable, they’re dropped into industrial size plastic trash bags all over the country. So instead of washing away in rain, this poop has now become immortal in a landfill. I’m not sure how I feel about this. Is this poop bagging campaign really just a marketing ploy? I don’t often walk my own dogs, but when I do, I bag it up. Here’s what we do in the yard –
We use a version of number three and/or number one. Poop gets tossed into the compost bin. Or we just mow over. We scoop more in winter, since there’s no mowing then.

One of the videos, the third one, I believe, mentioned feeding your dog high quality dog food to reduce the amount of poop. Less fillers means less poop. Makes sense to me. Feeding high quality dog treats probably helps, too. And there’s no better dog treat than the all natural, mostly single ingredient Jones Natural Chews. Our latest giveaway is a two ingredient treat – pork snout and bully stick broth – and makes dogs smile. One lucky reader will have a smiling dog soon. Our winner is …
Kelly McGrew! And here’s a twist – Kelly’s actual comment on the blog post won it for her! Congratulations, Kelly.
Please, weigh in on the bagging of poop. I’m curious to hear everyone’s take on it. I bag when we’re in public because poop is stinky and gross, but I’m torn about the whole landfill thing. Convince me one way or the other.
Spreading the good chews …
