Do you have kids? Have they gone back to school this week? Mine did. Two of them, at least. But here’s my question – why don’t we see Back to School photos of dogs?
Seriously – dogs go to school. Here’s a short list of what it means for dogs going back to school:
- Puppy school
- Obedience school
- Agility training
- Fly ball training
- Behavioral training
- Nose work
- Search and Rescue training
- Canine Good Citizen
- Therapy dog training
- Therapy specifically for veterans
- Hunt training – a million types
- Water training – again, many types
- Bomb hunting
- K9 Police dogs
- Military dogs
So where are all of our back to school photos of our dogs?! I know I didn’t take any pictures of Chewy when he started Puppy School. But I don’t tend to take first day of school photos, anyway.
Chewy is a bright dog, young, agile. I’m puzzling over what class to enroll him in next. Probably basic obedience. And I’ll do my best to find a little backpack and sneakers for him, take a Back to School photo of him before class.
So what’s an important element of any Back to School packing, to eliminate first day jitters and calm little nerves? Why, treats, of course! I’ve seen no end of photos of friends’ children enjoying their scrumptious treats on the way home from school this week. And we do the same for our dogs.
All I’m asking is that we give our dogs the best dang treats out there, and that’s Jones Natural Chews, of course. Well. That’s what I give my dogs. And it doesn’t even have to be back to school.
Last night, for instance – Chewy darted out the front door and started running. He does this zig-zag thing, like a chicken, when he runs, to evade capture. So I stood at the front door and yelled “Treat! Treat!”, holding my hand in the air like I had a treat. Because I reward him every time he comes back for that, he came zooming into the house, looking for his treats.
Y’all I burn through so many Jones Sausage Sticks and Beef Liver Taffies this way. Chewy and I need to go back to school to learn how to Come the first time mama calls. I’m going to be 100% grey by Christmas if this keeps up.
I hope you all enjoy your first day of school! And don’t forget to stock up on Jones Natural Chews for your puppy’s first day, and every day!
Until I write again …
