Welcome to Tasty Tuesday, a blog hop sponsored by Sugar the Golden Retriever and Kolchak Puggle. Please feel free to visit participating blogs when you’re done here! Today we talk about a pig heart of gold, the Pumper from Jones Natural Chews.
As you can clearly tell, the Pumper, a premium baked pig heart, isn’t really made of gold. But since Jones Natural Chews are 100% all natural and 100% made in the USA, it’s worth its weight in gold! Lucky for you, the price doesn’t reflect its true value. Because Jones is cool that way.
The Pumper is also a single ingredient treat! Just a baked pig heart. I love the Pumper because it breaks pretty easily into smaller pieces, which makes it perfect for toy dogs and the training of any size dog. And what’s not to love about pork?
Small dogs (eight to 20 pounds type of small) can typically chew on a Pumper for at least 20 minutes and still not consume the entire treat. It really depends on your dog’s chewing habits, how aggressive they are in consumption. Monitor the dog for a bit. My personal rules of thumb with consumable treats for dogs of all sizes is:
- Five minutes of chewing or eating
- Take the treat away after five minutes if it’s not completely consumed
- Never give a consumable treat before a meal – always after
I know I make this analogy all the time, but pretend the treats are a bag of candy and the dog is your three year old. You wouldn’t give your child an entire bag of candy at age three. You wouldn’t give your child an entire bag of candy before supper. Dogs, like kids, will inhale their treats. So just use your best judgment when treating your dog. Y’all, prior to blogging for Jones, I’d give my dogs whatever they wanted. It wasn’t always good for them. I still give them pizza crust …
Now! I have a charge for you! Pop over to the Chestnut Mutts and enter the giveaway! They’re giving away a Jones Spring Fling, a disk loaded with yummy treats, to some lucky dog! If you don’t enter, you can’t win, right? And then, most importantly, give your dog a Jones Natural Chew and watch it smile. Naturally.
Until I write again …

P.S. I know I said I was going to preview a cleaning product today. I obviously didn’t. My apologies. Soon. Very soon.
