A Morning with Dogs and Chickens

March 1, 2013

My mom stopped by for a minute this morning. She brought sweet Honey, my favorite Shih Tzu, of course.

The dog part of dogs and chickens
Honey is sitting still waiting for a treat. Her mama had a sausage biscuit and was pinching off bits for the dogs. I gave her a Pig Ear Snax, but Honey doesn’t like hard chews. She prefers a real bone or soft jerky. Or a sausage biscuit.

Hence we had a morning with dogs and chickens.

I had a million things to write about this morning. Honey sidetracked me. She sidetracked all of us. My boy:

Shih Tzu and Boy
Time for tummy scratches! Any time a person is nearby is time for tummy scratches.

My boy who didn’t get up in time to go to school:

Shih Tzu Honey
This boy doesn’t look happy about being photographed. He ate his sausage biscuit AND missed school. He has no excuse,

My dogs:

Begging dog
Flash knows a good thing when he sees it. And tastes it. This is his begging face. See those forward ears? That wistful look? He wants more sausage biscuit.

Grandma was a little too liberal with the sausage biscuit and the dogs this morning. Honey refused to eat the Pig Ear Snax (too hard for her), while my babies begged for more of the pig ears and the sausage.

Patiently waiting
Patches waits patiently for her biscuit. Girls are more patient than boys. At least in this house they are.

I can hear you asking, “But where are the chickens? You promised chickens.”

So I did.

Boy and chicken
Mary Ann is accustomed to coming inside, but she doesn’t really know this human. Becoming acquainted takes time. She’s actually just eyeballing his coffee.

See? Mary Ann came to say hello this morning. And since Oliver rarely interacts with the girls, we thought he might like to say hello.

Chicken
“May I please have some coffee? You don’t seem to be drinking it. Please?” Mary Ann always forgets that she doesn’t like coffee. At all.

Mary Ann considered pooping on his jeans by way of hello, but thought better of it at the last second. Smart choice, Mary Ann.

Time to go
“Fine. Be that way. Don’t share your coffee. I’ll poop on your leg and you’ll have to change your pants before you go to school. So there.”
Uh, no, Mary Ann. You will NOT poop in the house. Anywhere.

Eventually my boy made his way to school, in case you were worrying. Grandma traded a few minutes with her slow computer, getting it up and running smoothly, with a ride to school. Seemed like a fair trade to me. My mom is one smart cookie.

Ewok dog
Honey is also one smart cookie. But she doesn’t like coffee either.

Come back next week for part two of the harness review, a way cool light up collar review, and a mega bone review and giveaway. If you really like it here (I do at least one giveaway a month, and photos of cute dogs and chickens), feel free to subscribe. We’ll come straight to your inbox.

Until I write again …
